


Back in the present, Yeong-shin offers to use his tracking skills to find Mu-yeong. Cho Beom-il threatens to harm Mu-yeong's wife if he does not agree to spy on the crown prince for him. In a flashback, Mu-yeong leaves his pregnant wife at Naeseonjae shortly after the King contracts with smallpox. Worse, his personal guard Mu-yeong, was responsible, and has fled along with Seo-bi and Beom-pal.

He is shocked when the guards inform him that Lord Cho has disappeared, allegedly under the prince's orders. Prince Chang returns to Mungyeong Saejae after overseeing the delivery of supplies. However, they are interrupted as the door opens. She becomes suspicious when he tells her that the Queen requested the wood, and that she used it recently. Beom-pal offers her some rare medicinal sappanwood, but Seo-bi tells him it will not help. Lord Cho's condition worsens, and Seo-bi tells Beom-pal that while he will probably not become a monster, he will likely die from his symptoms, like Dan-i. The soldiers promise that while they cannot safely evacuate the civilians, they will at least keep them supplied.īack at Mungyeong Saejae, Seo-bi tends to Lord Cho while Cho Beom-pal anxiously watches. They use a barrage of cannon fire to keep the infected at bay while troops deliver the supplies through the secret passage. Having secured the army's cooperation, the prince arranges a shipment of food to the civilians trapped in Sangju citadel. The prince accuses the Haewon Cho clan of treason and oppressing the people, and asks soldiers to join him in overthrowing them. As proof, he gives the King's patient journal to the head of the Royal Army, Lee Gang-yun. Prince Chang explains that Seo-bi brought him back to life, just as Cho Hak-ju had done to the King. The assembled soldiers are stunned by Lord Ahn's reappearance after his death the previous night. Lord Cho collapses, and Crown Prince Lee Chang beheads Lord Ahn before he can injure him further. In the present, the resurrected Lord Ahn attacks Lord Cho at Mungyeong Saejae, biting him on the cheek. The revived villagers proceed to completely wipe out the Japanese forces camped at the Unpo Wetland. Ahn's men travel to Sumang Village, and kill all its inhabitants, who are then infected by physician Lee Seung-hui. Lord Ahn is initially outraged by the suggestion and skeptical that resurrection is possible, but changes his mind when Lord Cho shows him one of the " monsters" created with the plant and convinces him that it is the only way to save Sangju.
